Our digestive system, gut, GIT – Gastro-Intestinal Tract, includes everything from the mouth right through to the anus. Considering most of us eat 3 solid meals a day, up to 3 snacks, 1.5ltr of water plus a few coffees with a total of almost 60+ ingredients, it’s not surprising that at one stage or other things haven’t felt quite right.

If however, a digestive complaint is reoccurring maybe it’s time to make an appointment. A tailored treatment plan is easy to follow and implement and you can expect long-lasting positive changes.

DIGESTIVE DISCOMFORT – BLOATING, CONSTIPATION, DIARRHOEA, AND BAD BREATH

Bloating, constipation, diarrhoea, bad breath and stomach pain are not uncommon. At one stage or another, most people have experienced these. Although common when it is occurring often it is unusual and often an indication something is amiss with the digestive system.

Often by taking a thorough case history, looking at your diet and lifestyle choices, it is often quite clear what is going on.  A treatment plan is made for you and improvements are generally quick, with changes occurring in as little as 5 days.

FOOD ALLERGIES/INTOLERANCES

With allergies and intolerances on the rise, it is becoming more and more common in clinic patients having some degree of food intolerance, from the classic wheat and dairy to now fruits, grains and a wide variety of other foods.

By utilising the more current scientific pathology tests, by a simple blood sample, complete food groups can be checked and assessed for the level of intolerance this coupled with a thorough Naturopathy plan to repair the GUT and desensitize an overactive immune system long-lasting changes can be noted.

IRRITABLE BOWEL SYNDROME (IBS)

Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is marked by the abnormal function of the colon; abnormal motility, pain, diarrhoea, constipation/hard stools and increased production of mucus. IBS had a large component linked to the brain and serotonin.

Treatment is more than just symptomatic relief of digestive complaints. But also addressing and treating the person holistically. IBS-like many digestive complaints respond well to Naturopathy, herbal and nutritional treatment. With numerous digestive tests available, direct and specific diet changes alongside Naturopathy can give long-lasting positive results.

INFLAMMATORY BOWEL DISEASE-ULCERATIVE COLITIS/CROHN’S DISEASE

Ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease (IBD) has a strong genetic component with chronic and painful symptoms. Patients can find the disease debilitating to live with, having an enormous impact on their physical and mental health as well as an effect on their social lives. Most patients come into the clinic already heavily medicated. This doesn’t mean Naturopathy can’t help.

Having treated numerous cases of IBD, looking at it from a holistic angle, utilising functional pathology tests and assessing all areas of health, patients have noted huge lasting improvements in quality of life and reduction in symptoms.

🌿Herbal mix’s and supplements. I will still be mixing up and dispensing liquid herbs and supplements. If you are low and want to stock up simply call reception or email me to arrange and I will have them posted to you.

I plan to be back in the clinic in July/August 2019. I will, however, continue to stay active with seminars, conferences and keeping up to date with changes in the industry as well and caring for a tiny person 👶🏻
